An Interview with Wendy Higgins
Today, we feature one of my author friends, and USA Today bestseller, Wendy Higgins!
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I wrote my first “book” when I was five, a story with pages stapled together. I’ve always loved storytelling and the written word!
What adversity did you face in your path to pursuing your dreams?
I actually had all the opportunities a girl could have: good education, supportive family and friends. My biggest adversity was always my own self and my doubts about my abilities.
How has writing changed your life?
To be able to pay bills with money I made from telling stories has been an absolute dream come true. To work from home with a flexible schedule while raising young children was a huge blessing to us. To get emails from readers saying my books helped them through dark times…there is nothing else I’d rather be doing.
What inspires you the most?
I’m inspired by absolutely everything in life, good and bad, all the beauty and pain. My faith. My heartbreaks and mistakes. Things I witness in real life or on TV/social media. Conversations I hear. Interactions I see. Music I listen to. The social and political climate in the US and worldwide. I never know what might strike inspiration! I can only try to keep my mind and spirit open to it.
If you could go back in time to any time period, which one would you choose and why?
Honestly, as romanticized as past eras are, I would never want to go back to times with world wars, no modern medicine, and even worse widespread injustices. I’d much rather go to the future and see how things play out. I have so much hope in our childrens’ generation!–
